Hot times at two tracks! The first day was so hot Mr. Wakae passed out from heat exhaustion. But we had some very fast racing, including the first-ever IUF 700c events after dark. The second day was at the 1964 Olympic Stadium, with a marching band and big opening ceremony to start off the day.

John Foss > And at midnight, one of the Swiss announced "It is now August first, and Switzerland is 713 years old today. We celebrate with fire!" While the fireworks were lit, many of us headed to safer ground, not away from them, but away from security. When explained the nature of the celebration, security was remarkably cool about it!
